If I go somewhere hoping to get some photos, and I can't see any Meadow Argus butterflies around, then I feel as if I might as well turn around and go home. It seems that if these things aren't around then nothing will be. This species must be just about the most common in the country - they are truly abundant.

Strangely, the pictures in the books never look like mine, or like the specimens I see. In the books they're always a darker, richer colour. When I see them they're always a paler brown colour. Surely the books can't all have printed the colours incorrectly?

Sightings
It would be quicker to list the places I haven't seen them, as they're all over the place.
