Other Common Names Cooktown Birdwing, Northern Birdwing I saw one or two females of this species whilst in the rainforest around Cairns in October 2005, but they never stopped flying so I was unable to get photos of them. I did get pictures of some larvae in the Flecker Botanic Garden, but I only got photos of the adults in the Kuranda Butterfly Sanctuary. I saw more of these butterflies in April 2006; unlike many other species they seemed perfectly happy to fly on the overcast days, and even when it was raining fairly heavily.
