Other Common Names Thyrrhus Skipper I saw quite a number of males near Atherton and Herberton on New Year's Day 2009. They were all males, defending territories on or right next to the paths I was walking along. At first it was overcast, and they all sat with their wings closed, but as the day brightened they began to open their wings up. I didn't see any females, as far as I was aware - presumably they were somewhere in the leech-infested grass beside the path. I suppose I'd have got some shots of females if I wasn't such a wimp about leeches.
