Everes lacturnus (Orange-tipped Pea-blue)

Other Common Names

Tailed Cupid, Tailed Grass-blue

Notes

This is apparently a species that can be found in large numbers under the right conditions. So it’s strange that I’ve only seen it a handful of times, and just the one individual on most of those occasions. The first was in Cairns in April 2006 – I didn’t get any shots as it flew off just as I got it in focus (how many times does THAT happen, eh?). I finally got some pics at White Rock in November 2008. Although this day was largely sunny, it was a bit cloudy at that time, which probably made it easier to get the photos as the butterfly kept on settling after short flights.
