Neptis praslini (Yellow-eyed Plane)

Other Common names

Black and White Aeroplane

Notes

I’ve not seen this species often. They typically glide around and settle on top of leaves well above head height, making it difficult to get decent photos.

The males aggressively chase other butterflies in defence of their territories, which tend to be sunny spots within or at the edge of the rainforest. It can be amusing to watch a little praslini seeing off a Papilio ulysses several times his own size.
