Pelopidas agna (Dingy Swift)

Other Common Name

Common Swift

Notes

I first found this butterfly in the Cairns Central Swamp in October 2005, and on a grassy hillside the following April. The latter specimen was difficult to photograph, as although he settled often they were only short stays, and in between he flew very rapidly and was hard to keep in sight. I’ve probably seen them on every Cairns trip since, though I tend not to pay much attention to this species or P. lyelli as there’s always more exciting butterflies to pursue!
