Mycalesis perseus (Dingy Bush-brown)

Notes

I thought I saw one or two of these butterflies on my first trip to Cairns in October 2005, but I never got close enough to them to be sure. On my return visit in April 2006, however, I saw a few individuals around. They were never in great numbers, just the odd one or two, but I did see them just about every day.

They generally flew low down, occasionally settling on the grass. Sometimes they would rest with their wings open for a short while, but by the time I got close enough they had always closed their wings.
