Telicota eurychlora (Southern Sedge-darter)

Other Common Names

Dingy Darter, Sedge Darter

Notes

There were maybe 3 or 4 of these butterflies in the tall sedge at the edge of a swamp behind Redhead Beach, where the swamp met the sand dunes. The first one I saw was happy to sit there whilst I fought my way through the sedge until I was within camera range, so I thought this was going to be an easy species to photograph. Of course I was wrong; every time I saw one after that it flew off as soon as I even looked at it!
