Nacaduba berenice (Large Purple Line-blue)

Other Common Names

Six Line-blue

Notes

I first saw this butterfly in the Cairns Botanic Gardens, feeding from the flowers of a small shrub late in the afternoon.

In March 2006 I was rather surprised to find quite a lot of these butterflies in Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens. A number of them were feeding from purple Heliotropes, and others were enjoying their territorial battles in the trees and bushes nearby. I haven’t found this species in Sydney since that time.
