Heteronympha cordace (Bright-eyed Brown)

Notes

The first of these butterflies I saw was by the side of a stream in the Kanangra Boyd National Park. When disturbed it flew very weakly and settled nearby – to be honest it looked as if it was too much like hard work to fly, and it would rather just sit down. 2 years later I saw several of them in the same place, and then a large number of them at Barrington Tops. A lot of the specimens at Barrington were much smaller than those at Kanangra.

I’ve only once seen this butterfly within easy reach of Sydney; a single rather tatty specimen along the Braeside Trail at Blackheath.
