This butterfly was previously named Neohesperilla xiphiphora; all 4 Neohesperilla species were moved into the genus Toxidia in 2022.
Notes
Terrible photos I’m afraid. I’d gone to Emerald Creek Falls mainly in the hope of finding this species. Eventually I came across this one very worn female, who only sat still for a moment hence the poor quality of the pictures. I’ll have to go back to the site, preferably earlier in the season, to get more (hopefully better) photos.
